Since opening in Charlottesville, Bar-G Fitness has grown into a welcoming space where clients of all ages and fitness levels come to challenge themselves, learn proper movement, and build strength that lasts. Our focus is on functional training — improving balance, stability, and total-body strength so you can live better outside the gym.

The Story Behind the Name

Bar-G Fitness was founded by Drew Barga, who has been training clients since 2002. After facing his own health challenges — including obesity, scoliosis, and severe back injuries — Drew discovered firsthand the power of smart, consistent, functional movement. His recovery shaped the philosophy behind Bar-G: empathy, adaptability, and the belief that everyone can build a stronger version of themselves with the right guidance.

At Bar-G, Drew and the team bring that same mindset to every client — combining expert programming with real-world understanding and encouragement. The result? A gym that feels personal, purposeful, and deeply invested in your success.
